I think it may be difficult to use as a media stand - can you fit your media equipment in the stands drawers?

no the drawers are not used for that. I was thinking just putting the tv and the box on top with decor around it.

Your TV console should go from outlet to outlet.;) It will not only look better but it will hide all the cords.

Do you already own the larger furniture piece and really love it? If so, I would use it and switch the cords to one outlet only with a power strip. That way all the cords would be covered, leaving the other outlet unused. You could then ignore the empty outlet, paint the outlet cover to match the wall, or put a decorative basket or ceramic pot in front of it. Some day wireless electricity will be available, but not yet!

What is shown in the picture is just what we have, we just moved in and so the TV is just sitting on that chest. We are looking at buying that larger piece to go in that spot for the TV. I am just wondering if it will work or if it will be to big. Is is technically not a tv console but we thought we could use it for one. It is long enough to cover the outlets.

Ok, so I have a lot of time on my hands. Tried to illustrate what I mean, sort of to scale. The power cord and all the wires go behind the chest. The decorative item goes in front of the other outlet. With the media equipment on top of the chest, the tv may be a little high.

If the chest will cover both outlets, you can ignore my drawing and see what other posters have to say.
