Paint it black like your door.

It was I bought the doors from lowes. They came and measured and installed. Double Pella doors. They put the wood sill in and told me it's supposed to be that way. I suggested they at least cut it back to not see the wood and they said I have to paint it or stain it my self.

thus isn't right. I have a French door and it did have an oak will. that was his it was made. big mistake. not even marine varnish will last a season and were in southern California!! demand aluminum sill extension!

Time to call Lowe's. They usually stand behind their work. The installers aren't usually hired by Lowe's but are contracted by them. No doubt, the installers are trying to convince you of a job well done and hoping you don't file a complaint, and unfortunately many homeowners don't and the installers continue to get away with shoddy work. And stop payment until the work is done.

also looks like they should have added jamb extensions to cover where the old door jamb were!

Just checked our three doors purchased from Lowes and installed by their contracted workmen. Although the installers do not do painting, they certainly made sure the sills extended to the edge of the underlying wood. Otherwise, moisture coming off the sill would sit on the adjacent wood. Water on wood for a prolonged period is not a good thing!

Thanks so much. I put in a call to lowes this morning! I just don't know how they will rectify this without ripping my doors out??

Update us as this dilemma proceeds and is resolved please.

If the paver brick is flush with the threshold the treated wood will come out and a paver in its place. Some mortar repair calking will dress up the brick freeze to the brick.

So when lowes comes back to fix what should they do?? Cut back the wood sill??

I'm not sure, but It looks as though caulking has been used under the threshold rather than a metal flashing "pan". The likelihood of water seeping between the house and the bricks as well as splashing against your door due to its shallow step presents a big problem that caulking alone will not solve in the long term.

Before the pavers are installed, ask the masons what they do for water protection against the foundation/brick walls other than caulk. Pay attention to the pitch of the pavers and water runoff.

They need to put an annodized aluminum sill extension and get rid of the wood. Contact Pella and show the picture to them!

I sent the picture to the manager of the installation dept at Lowes. They are sending the guys who installed the doors back to fix it. (Even though they told me they did it right when I questioned it to begin with) And if I'm not satisfied with what they say or do then a Pella rep comes out. This is what I was told. I'm just wondering how they will get rid of the wood without ripping the doors out?Because the wood sill they put in goes far back completely under the door!
