Both are gorgeous but my favourite is shabby chic, lends itself to it

Black and pink, playful chandelier though I love the feathers too, dramatic black and white damask wallpaper or a simple back and white stripe, fun pink French chair, white dressers and night stands, and a fluffy white set of bedding. Keep the pink as accents and maybe mix in an apple or mint green. If you keep the main things black and white you can change to any other colors down the road. Have fun!

Or how about the black and white with sunflowers and bumble bees and butterflys . It's a great bed and has my imagination going. Wonderful to have family heirlooms!

Thank you everyone for your opinions and comments. It will stay black. I think i was leaning that way any way. I like that it will stay true to its original look.
CraigMDesigns thank you very much for your ideas. Your initial idea was what I was thinking when I bought the light fitting but I LOVE the idea of the bumblebees, butterflies and sunflowers. They feel more 'little girl' to me.

Just thought I'd show everyone the finished bed. We have decided to make it the guest bed and buy my little one something a bit more child friendly. If she decides when she's older that she'd like it she can have it then.

It was completely pulled apart, stripped and powder-coated, the brass was polished and some broken pieces were replaced or moved to less obvious areas, a wheel was replaced and a wooden mattress frame built. All of this was done in two weeks AND it was picked up, returned to us and reassembled.

I like the black too. Lots of great ideas in the previous posts.

Looks fabulous all restored- good job keeping it black!
