Very french country, but rather than going too far in that feminine direction, I would go with a more subdued look that both a male or female may feel comfortable with. Beige or white bedding, linen or cotton drapery, perhaps beige, grey or a duck egg blue for the paint color. You could paint the furniture white, but bring in some dark wood pieces...shop for a few antiques at flea markets, etc for a bench, dressing table, side table, etc. A simple hemp rug, classic chandelier to finish things off.
