After demoing very steep stairs to my attic, we came across a piece of wood that appears to be the architect's signature and date when the house was built, around 1900. We want to preserve it and make it a cool piece that stays in the home. Have others come across this? The writing is in pencil - any ways to darken the writing it without ruining it? All ideas are welcome. (It's very hard to see in the picture.)
