Metal sinks can be beautiful but you need to do your research on them before purchasing. Many have finishes that are very sensitive to items such as toothpaste, liquid hand soap, soft drinks, wine and so forth. If the manufacturer does not give any care instructions I suggest you contact them in person. We installed a bronze sink for a client and did not find out until after we received the sink that other than water and bar soap any other product could damage the finish. It has to be wiped out after use to prevent water spots also.

Copper is a "live" finish. It goes through lots of changes. Some happen naturally as it oxides other changes occur from chemical reactions. You have to be excepting that parts will turn green, brown dark which gives copper such character!

Hi Pat - As the others have mentioned, copper is a beautiful, unique material for bath sinks, but there certainly are some important considerations to understand when you're in the market for a quality piece. First and foremost, understand that copper does have a living finish that lightens and darkens depending on use. Think of pennies in your change jar - a newly minted penny starts out shiny, but a few years in circulation and that penny has a weathered, creamy caramel & milk chocolate tone. Most folks find this a charming character of the metal, and love the beautiful variance in patina color over the sink's lifetime. Other important characteristics to look for are: copper purity, gauge, and construction technique.
