Maybe you could use the mirror somewhere else. The busy mirror competes with the busy brick and gets lost in the fight. You need something bolder and with more contrast.

It's a lovely mirror, but it I think it needs a solid background to be showcased to it's full potential. The brick isn't doing it justice there.

I'd also like to see you pull the corner chair out just a bit so it's more a part of the seating group.

i think that the trim would look great white! if you have a larger mirror that takes up most of the space above the mantle, you may try that. otherwise, center the one you have, and put matching large candle holders on each side to make a grouping??? the silver pot below will break up the symmetry a little, which will be nice!

It is too small. I would love to see a mirror that is large and rectangular there. Then on the mantle a couple small items.

Have you considered toning down your brick with a white wash? It is a little dark and busy to make many things stand out. OR, notice on the first picture below, wood around the brick and painted white. Then everything will stand out in a good way.

As far as the mirror, I would put it on the wall in a grouping of a few smaller mirrors.

Can't tell how large those mirrors are, and they are better, but they still don't really stand out against the brick.

Whitewashed the brick..think it looks much better but mirror probably a little too small. Any suggestions? I've been looking at ones with a silver finish

Love the whitewash. When you get an idea, you don't mess around. I like that.

The mirror wouldn't be too small if the rays around the edges didn't still blend into the brick. If you want a mirror there, it needs to be dark like the boat-shaped bowl to the left.

The brick looks very nice white washed!! I agree that you need a darker more solid looking mirror there. The sunburst mirror is fun, maybe you could find another home for it?

Thanks..we finally decided to just paint it after talking about it for a while. A darker rimmed mirror makes sense but I can't say I love how it looks in the photoshopped image. It is the focal point in the room and I feel a statement piece belongs there..something that looks special and has interest

I like the whitewash, made the room brighter. The mirror is really pretty but I am not sure if it fits the style of the whole room. Besides, I like the colorful paining idea (the one groveraxle photoshoped) more than the mirror. It also depends what is reflected in the mirror, usually it would be a chandelier or something of the sort... In painting, on the other hand you can play with your accent colors (like the red of your colors, or the blue of the blanket).

I have art on either side of the fireplace and wasn't sure if that was too much art for one
wall..especially if the styles are completely different. We thought about a clock but finding a large one in our price range was hard to find and that's how we got to the mirror

Yes beautiful mirror but lost against the brick. I'd rather see a family portrait or art.

For me there is never too much art :). Besides you can chose one that will stand out but still fit the other paintings' style.

What about one of these mirrors? They are unique, darker and not as "busy" so they won't compete so much with the brick.

Paint the trim white the contrast will brighten up the fireplace. A mirror is a great idea, but that one is too small and too busy. Look for something larger, rectangle with a dark frame.

I like your white-washed brick. And the first mirror you posted was the best. However, with that said, I am still thinking a larger rectangular mirror with a White Frame would go best.

The round mirrors (perhaps 3 of them different sizes) can go on another wall.

Put the 4 pieces of art, all together on the other wall. :)

Large, rectangular, colorful artwork -- photo shopped above -- has my hands-down vote. I might even get rid of the items on the mantle. The round mirror is incompatible, too small, too busy.

I echo decor's comments. Whitewashing the brick helped. Consider going all the way and painting it white. I don't think the pink showing through is doing the room any favors.

I wouldn't put a mirror there at all. Who's going to be tall enough to see in it? Do a larger piece of artwork there instead.

Whatever you decide, I would be sure the item(s) have substance. You could just use accessories alone on mantel or select a heavier mirror and larger accessories.

well, if it were mine , I would paint the bricks in a shade of white that goes with your doors or base-boards and put a large square mirror (same size or larger than the size of the fire-place opening) up .
Even if I would not paint , the mirror should be square and large enough
