Yes, gray would be really pretty as it would bring out the gray in both your countertops and backsplash. Also, you may want to consider a roman shade for the window over the sink. A bowl filled with fruit would be pretty and some fresh flowers or an orchid for color would be nice on the island. Nice kitchen~

Love your kitchen. Remove the clock above the sink. Like Karen said, hang a roman shade. Have it line up with the trim on the upper cabinets so it becomes a continuous straight line on the wall.

I totally agree with pulling gray from the counters and backsplash for the walls...really nice!

I would go either gray or the taupe color from the backsplash and/or countertop for the wall color. I would keep the color light. A roman shade with blue or red might be a good choice.

I think it's pretty but a bit stark. Maybe bring in some accent color through bowls, an area rug, towels, etc. Cookbooks and exposed appliances can be chosen with the same idea(s) in mind...

I love your beautiful new kitchen, however it is very stark. Please avoid adding any more white, grey or black. You need some color. I think the idea for roman shades is a good starting point. Perhaps a stripe with several cheery colors, such as red, coral, orange, yellow, teal, chartreuse or even a purple.

Do you have bar stools yet? I liked one of the above photos posted with the green or chartreuse stools. Do you have under cabinet led lighting? Play up your one glassed door cabinet with one or several colors from the fabric you pick for the roman shades. A coral, soft yellow, or an orangey color would be a nice wall color to paint. Put some of this color in your ceiling paint as well. Place some color in your accents around the island and counters. A long wooden bowl with oranges, limes & lemons. I think with your white backsplash, marble counters, white appliances you are going to need some color, but not grey as so many have suggested. You did not post photos of the other side of the kitchen, but with the small amount of wall showing in your photo, you could easily use a vibrant color such as teal or coral or yellow in the wall color. Enjoy your addition of color to your new kitchen & post some photos after adding color.

It's s neutral palette so what is your favorite color. Yes I'd remove the clock as its too old fashioned for such a beautiful contemporary kitchen and wrong color and wrong wood.

I still think you should paint the walls a neutral color such as gray or taupe and then add pops of color with the addition of fresh flowers, bowls, small appliances, etc. Also, you can bring in color by adding a roman shade and use those colors throughout the kitchen. You can also get counter/bar stools with a colorful fabric that compliments the window treatment. Stay neutral on the walls, though. Good luck....Keep us posted!

It's very white. see that color at the base if the bar area, paint your walls that color. You need curtains or shutters. Curtains should carry some of the paint color you choose as well as the accessories.

You have an elegant, neutral backdrop, and can go in any direction but I wanted to suggest some quieter directions, while keeping your same wall color. The first photo shows a grayed blue that is elegant with creams, the second shows a palette that stays neutral and uses interesting items and patterns in ivory and black, and the third uses copper and a silvered green/pewter with textures ( rattan / hammered metal / clay pottery). They all share your tumbled stone backsplash. I hope these were some help!

Boomchika, lucky you, you have a tasteful blank slate with which to start. It all depends on your style. I would suggest a beautiful pendant light to anchor and highlight that island. Find bar stools that suit your needs. These don't look very comfortable but the wood warms up all your hard surfaces. Then add the color of your choice. I think your choice of paint is warm and inviting and compliments your granite. Look for a quality window treatment that works with your paint color and that rocks your world upon entering the kitchen. Teal seems to work well here if you like teal. Troyb, this is amazing! I love your suggestions and teal happens to be my favourite colour. I am going shopping and looking for a roman shade (brilliant idea by the way that was recommended by so many!) My bar stools are black and silver, but I am looking for new ones, so it would be perfect to coordinate them with other accessories.

I'm one who likes subdued colors and I love your kitchen. I too vote some shade of gray. I don't think your kitchen is stark. Just depends on individual taste and what you think of your kitchen and what you are going for.

We purchased these Pottery Barn barstools, on sale, and love them. I've suggested them on other kitchen dilemma threads, waiting for someone else to like them too. I think the black would look great in your kitchen.

What colors are you going to use in the rest of the house? I like the teal suggestions and some real color (not gray which I consider the new beige) on the walls or the ceiling. Would the wood stained base of the cabinet at the front of photo look well with black or maybe dark gray instead of the wood stain? You need some splashes of color on the counters, esp. if you use gray on the walls.

The size of the objects should take into account how far away from them they will be viewed. If there is room for a kitchen table and chairs, we need to see that area. If the kitchen is open to the family room, how far away is that from the counters?

Say you use teal and aqua as accents, a good size plate or platter in teal held almost upright against a cookbook holder would make a statement. Something with some height needs to be on the outer counter. I have Roman shades on the kitchen windows in cream and like them very much. I added red trim to the shade tops. If I change my color scheme, the red comes off and new color trim gets glued on. Not suggesting you use cream, but maybe a neutral that you then jazz up. The corner where the counters meet is a natural place for some of the accent color. I like to use silk ipor real plants there because the counters, cabinets, sink and appliances are all "hard". (Some will say, "Ugh!")

Forget corner part. You will need that space for cooking. Counters look a bit narrow. Maybe the photo...

Boomchicka, Target sells a very similar stool to the Pottery Barn stool. It's the Trenton saddle stool. We have a set in our basement and they are very sturdy.

Agree with several others on remove the clock does not fit and it right now is the first thing that jumps out at you undermining the rest of the kitchen. Start with identifying what items you want to add to make it functional, then use those items to create the layer of style, many have provided some interesting suggestions.Use existing shapes and seek it identify some darker or brighter color you like to work with.
