Did you resurface the tub? If so, what was involved?

The tub was resurfaced, as there was nothing wrong except that it was green. I called a local professional to come in and spray the tub as I had never done that before. Not sure I would do it as the results are not perfect.

Looks much more current. It is difficult to get photos of bathrooms -- there's nowhere to stand with the camera that's far enough away.

Looks great! I love the simple black and white theme. If there is enough room, I would add a small vase with fresh flowers next to the sink to add a pop of color. The floral aroma is an added bonus!

Love the update. The green would not be for me. The black and white is a great choice. I would prefer a white bath mat, maybe a bit smaller and draped over the tub rather than on the floor and close to the toilet. And a bit of colour. Perhaps a medium sized picture on the left wall or smaller on the right and/or something on the vanity.

Must say I want expecting such a response for those stained, scratched, and corroded old fixtures! I kinda liked them but the sink was super small and the toilet had seen better days.

Overall I am renovating the house trying to keep it somewhat period but ver clean and modern. I love white and clean lines.

The mirror light combination unit was actually from ikea. The stormjorm I believe. Very reasonable and much much less expensive that the similar Electric mirror and just as useful.

Nice renovation, looks great! Call me crazy, but I love the older bathrooms. But then again I love vintage. My sister's bathroom in her upstairs is done in the turquoise and it is so cool looking, but then to others it would be not so cool looking. Enjoy your new bathroom...

i'd have kept the mint green porcelain and worked around it. The new is nice but rather bland and predictable.

What a clean, refreshing look; I really like your choices of tile. Anyone who lives with the "greens" of old understands why you chose to change to white! (I have a bathroom totally covered in green tile with black trim and a multi-green porcelain tiled floor. Ugh!!) How long did this project take you? Again, nicely done.

Where did you get the vanity? How deep is it? I need one that is as shallow as that appears to be. They are not easy to find.

Demo, removing the old stuff (tile, fixtures, ect) took a day. I did have to reframe the wall with the door ( moving the door away from the sink, hence why perspective is different) that took a few days for drywall ect. Installation for tile, backer board, fixtures, paint took I would say a week and a half. So say three weeks for me. No door moving, two weeks.

The vanity is 18.5" deep and it's the godmorgan 31" wide unit with the porcelain top from ikea in the black/brown color.

Thanks! My door swings in and that is my issue. The sink cannot come out any further than 17 inches in my very tiny bathroom with no other option.. :( I will go check out Ikea though for sinks. They may have others that do fit. Great job on that bathroom!

I'm just not a fan of those little hex tiles with the black grout. Had those in a home from the 30s and the floor always looked dirty. But some people love them. This bathroom looks vintage except for the modern vanity. Overall, it's a great improvement. Good job!

White is timeless...there is a reason that we have rid ourselves of the green and the blue and the pink fixtures. They will return, only to once again be removed.

We are also renovating a 50s bathroom, but its larger : 7 X12. I have selected white subway wall tile also - what color is the wall grout, and is there a tight spacing between the tiles? I love the floor tiles, but my contractor says "people don't want all that grout". So possible I will go with a marble 12 x 12.

I had a pink console sink that was large and beautiful but the faucets exploded one day.... long story. This is the before- we are relocating the commode (behind a knee wall on the opposite wall) as I hate seeing it when I open the door. New clawfoot tub will be located under a new window on far wall. Stay tuned.

It's your house, contractors do not always know best haha! The grout is a color called "platinum" found at Home Depot. The tile spacing is the standard 1/8". I would have chosen a white marble like what I used in my kitchen, but being a guest bath I wanted to keep cost down. See photo for my kitchen tile.

Thanks, Sean. Your kitchen is gorgeous, ( I have a similar look in mine, which we renovated a while ago). You are obligated to seal the marble backsplash from time to time, correct? That's the only negative ( besides the cost) keeping me from pulling the trigger on a marble floor.

It looks wonderful. The subway tile really radiates throughout the room. Have you considered a glass shower door? This would help make your beautiful tile more pronounced.

What did you do with the old sink & toilet?

I do hope they got sold or donated. I have the same sink. I don't even need to see the rest of it to know what you had.

Those are classic as well as vintage, and desirable to many.

BUT....in all fairness, I LOVE the wall tile & that floor is beautiful! Was the floor tile under the carpet??

There was peeling linoleum under the carpet. So I put down the penny tile to compliment the mini hex tile in my first floor bath. I wanted a clean contemporary feel but still have hints at the homes original feel.

this is a perfect bathroom transformation, and i love the look of the vanity and lighted mirror. The tile really brightens the bathroom and gives it a much more inviting feel! Only thing missing is a heated towel warmer to pamper your guests, although they may never leave ;)
