What about adding some rods and panels instead of sheers? Panels will add some weight and interest to the room.

Your room looks very nice. I think something more that a sheer would be better too. I like a neutral pallaet but I like to add color where i can change it easily. Maybe a silk shatung or pattern with a hint of a color hung straight down sides you could put a sheer in the center, but you don't have too

I agree with adding panels instead of sheers. The furniture is heavy so to balance that out using something heavier than sheers would do the trick. Neutral color is nice but I would make it darker to contrast from the walls. Another thought would be to pull a color from the picture for the fabric along with some pattern or texture.
