I'm going to acquire a deep red, vintage, Victorian style love seat set and am not sure how to style it in my family room.

Here is my dilemma:
- red is not my favorite color or the color focus of the room, but I'd hate to scrap the couches
- I'm not into black or earthy rich tones which naturally go well with red
- I have modern design taste so the Victorian thing throws me off
- I have a growing family so I need stain and damage resistant furniture and accessories (ie: no glass tables or white silk seats)

I'd love advice for a color palette and how to decorate to accommodate the couches in a modern family room setting.
