With the dresser on the window wall it appears to be covering the heating vent. Will this be a problem or is the vent no longer in use?

You are correct - That's why I've moved the dresser to the wall opposite the bed. It fits better there as well - especially after I get window panels up.

With the headboard being arched, I think any art going in the back of the lamps should not be higher than the bed posts.

I don't think you necessarily need anything. Get your mirror over your dresser, your panels for your windows, chairs and art for the window wall first. I think you will find you don't need this.

Ok, will do. I'll repost when I've done what you suggested. For the panels, would you go the wall color or slightly deeper? BTW, I'm repainting the room this week to a deeper color - still neutral, just a shade deeper (it's in the rest of the house and I just haven't hit this room yet).

CDR - Here are some updated pictures. I did get the lamps yesterday, so those are placed. I've used blue tape to mock up the panel height/position (6" above casing) and mirror hung at a vertical. I did notice that I don't have the dresser centered on that wall yet. I also have two pieces of existing art I could use in that window wall, if either work. The flower is a family piece, but I could use it somewhere else also. I did consider nothing over the bed or nightstands, but the 3 set of pictures I posted above (the aspens) on the wall to the left of the bed. That is about 20x60 and would fill that space horizontally and add something over there of interest. I just really like the colors in those pictures and know they would go well in the room - actually, you just said to hold off until I get the other stuff done. Any other suggestions based on where I'm headed. Oh, the chairs are there just for visual.

The room is looking good, but you are thinking too small on everything.

-panels should be hung close to ceiling height.
-I would have bought a much larger mirror
-once you hang the drapes, move the horse art to center it between the drapes and other wall. It needs to be lowered so the center is 54-60" above the floor
-I can't say the paint will work. I would choose a color that works with this room
-I would do a mock up of the aspen art, so we can see it on that wall.

Love the bedding and the arts and crafts rocker looks great there. The room is becoming quite eclectic and I think a second rocker (even if not matching) would look great. Even another chair that doesn't match.

The white paper is the size of the canvas set (I've just printed out a pic of each piece and taped it on the inside).

The mirror - I'll have to see when it comes how it works. It's on its way, so too late to cancel. I could always use the mirror I already have (was hung above the dresser before - though I know the frame is thin).

I actually have another rocker. I can reupholster it to work with the room. I'll post it. I would love to be able to use these two rockers somewhere.

Here are the rockers with different options for center table (3). The last picture is an close-up of the fabric on rocker. I'm thinking the rockers could be switched so tall one is on the right.

Art on other wall - I could just hold off on this wall until everything else is up. It just feels lopsided to me with nothing on that wall. Think I'd like the aspens there more, though.

Would be great if you could upholster the rockers in matching fabric. They seem to be the perfect size to fit there.
Now you are thinking "big' with pictures! Like the monotone tree pic there on the wall to left of the bed. Seems more in proportion than the smaller pics. The 2 pics on the window wall seem like the best choice so far ... so that all pics are not single ones & it also gives a vertical shape which fits well in that space.

2 rockers look great. Move them to left to be more centered on window. Rocker on left in desperate need of reupholstering.

One more question - on the drapes. I'm not a fan of drapes hung on the top third of wall - even though I know that's where everyone puts them now. I wanted to go with linen semi-sheer drapes from Pottery Barn slightly deeper than the wall color. What is option #2 if I want to hang them a little lower?

Solid fabric for rockers. You don't need more pattern in the room and it will have more staying power. Suggest paint rockers black.

I like the fabrics. I was leaning towards gold for the tall rocker also.

I like these tables for between the rockers - right height.

Of course I'm also in love with this chair and ottoman. Could something like this work instead of the two rockers? Could be too much of the same color going on though.

A plantation chair.....I love those. I'd get it in black. You might be able to do the mission rocker and that chair. Expensive to recover the other rocker......unless sentimental value.....might not be worth it.

I am not sure where your room sits at this time, but I want to answer your original questions. I think most definitely when you walk into your lovely bedroom you should be facing the bed. I would also like to see your 20 X 40 plant prints above the nightstands. Put the smaller based lamps that you had originally on the night stands. Use those close enough to reach the switches from the bed & hang the 20 X 40 plant prints slightly to the side of the lamps. Part of the prints can be obscured by the lamps as that adds interest. Use one of the new lamps on the side of your wide dresser. Place the birch prints about 3 inches above that dresser. You want to be able to see them from the bed. Then move the dog bed into the corner beyond the dresser. You do not need to hang anything above the dog bed.

I wish I was able to post photos as others do but I can't. I would like to see the drapery panels hung higher than you have indicated w/ the blue tape. You do not need to close them, they are for balance. I do not think you need two chairs in the room. I just noticed you may not have room for a panel of drapery to the far left window. So change that nightstand for your small table. We do not like things matchy, matchy anyway. Place that nightstand that you removed to be placed next to your chair. Put the other lamp on it. I would like those 2 pieces on the wall to the left of your bed & adjust so they don't interfere with the heat vent. Hang the mirror on one side of the chair area and the horse painting on the other side of that area. Let me know if you are liking any of these suggestions.

@ Christy Bell, the 2 chairs by the window .. will both these chairs be used at the same time or would a black chaise lounge be a better solution (more streamline, taking up less depth)?

....also, we were trying to use the rockers, because you said you would really like to be able to use them. But, now you are considering buying a chair.

So, if you have the choice, consider the function of the space. A place to sit and read? A place to put on your shoes? The plantation chair sits low and is meant for relaxing.....but the combo of the ottoman and plantation chair could work for both functions (chair and ottoman for relaxing/ottoman to sit and put shoes on).

Also, consider that the bottom of your windows are high. So, if you want to sit in a chair and look out the window, the plantation chair is not ideal.

Great feedback. I think the plantation chair is beautiful, but not right for this space. I plan to reupholster the rockers myself, so that will save some cost. Right now there is a very old vinyl leather on the mission rocker. It's an antique so would not be used for sitting on too much, which is why the other rocker would be there! I like to use the area to go into my room for phone conversations, etc. I love rocking too, so really am drawn to the two rockers in there. Just have to find a table for between them that I can put a cup of coffee on!

I think you really need height at that end of the room. If you do not want to hang panels that are almost wall height, the next option would be panels, but lower ones.

Well, I don't want a formal look - more casual. Given that, what would you do with the drapes (color)? I can purchase the longer panels and pin them up for awhile to see if it grows on me. Lastly, would you do black hardware for windows?

The coral or taupe from your bedding would be ice for the drapes. It would be nice to repeat the ironwork on your bed and I think black rods would look good.

I have this chair and footstool too - already in black. The wood, however is in the cherry (like the bedroom furniture), not like in the picture shown. Would this work with the mission rocker in that room? Not sure if the chair is too contemporary.

For drapes I would focus on golden yellow, orange and chocolate brown with minimal pattern/ plain if possible so not to destract from the room itself. Think rich but muted tones which will fit in a treat with an ambient looking wall. Think on the colors of fall. Good luck I look forward to seeing where your project goes from here it is a lovely rustic frontier style room :)

CDR - not to go in another direction, but I wanted your thoughts on what you would do with this wall. I ask because this is where I currently have the muted tree canvas hanging (above piano) and if I move it to my bedroom I'd need to do something here. I'm open to moving the piano to the basement - it's too small for the space. Do you think bookcases would work here? We have a great room and the pics below show the front door area (opposite the front door is a very large moss rock fireplace. We don't get much natural light at all, so the piano area stays rather dim - those sconces are on all the time. As a note: the door to the left of the piano is the entrance to the master bedroom in this thread.

I don't think you have to have any piece of furniture on the piano wall.....just art. I would recommend you start a second dilemma. It gets sort of confusing with 2 rooms on one thread.

No I would not put anything over that bed unless it was soft like a tapestry or wall hanging.
