Starting a Reno on main and second floor. Dont want to move out while renovating. What are some ideas or solutions about living in your house while renovating?
Since the new year - we've put in hardwood floors in several rooms (replacing it in one) - complete overhaul of kitchen - new counters, sink, cooktop, refrigerator, backsplash and artwork. Painted the ceiling in the kitchen a dark sage (to play off light sag walls), changed all hallways to gray, and remodeled the master bath with a nicer color - Burnt Bush Rose - and in a fairy theme - all artwork, towels (handmade), and accessories (soap dish, toothbrush holder and trash, etc.), plus new matching rugs.

If we can save up for it - we hope to paint the exterior with an all new color combination this year too.

Bought a huge chunck of land with a house, did a reno on the house and severed it off. Put the house up for sale, sold within 3 days and now are building a new house for ourself on the retained lot! Bought a travel trailer, did some reno work on that as well and going to live in it for a couple of months until the house is finished. And once it's finished...yep, do a lot of stuff ourself so more work. Love it!!!

We are remodeling the master bath after 13 years. Turquoise tile--what was I thinking? Tile out, venetian type plaster in, new redwood vanity cabinets, improved lighting. How can such a small space have so many decisions?

Have bought a little house in Tuscany, Italy, and are about to update it - the bathroom and kitchen have not been remodeled since it was built 80 years ago. Having to deal with builders in a foreign country in a language I do not (yet) speak could be a little challenging, but I am looking forward to the adventure,

We have just purchased 50 acres with 2 homes which will be retirement homes. Neither have been lived in for years. The older home has two 1860 cabins attached. Houses will be gutted and renovated. Wish us luck

Starting to remove a den and rebuilding an actual bedroom with a view. New bathrooms, hardwood floors. Hard to renovate a 23 year old Condo in London, Ontario. Will submit before and after photos when I get some. Found a design and renovator through HOUZZ. Will let you know how it shakes out.

Our beautiful Italianate colonial suffered a frozen pipe in February that destroyed a guest bath, bedroom, upper and lower foyers, the staircase, kitchen and dining room. Repairs have just started and will take a year. We are taking the opportunity to put in systems to prevent frozen pipes in the future.

We are redoing the kitchen, it is old, dingy and ugly. We want a modern farmhouse with touches of distressed with cypress open shelving. The large pantry will be also redone to be more efficient and open. It is a very small kitchen so smart storage is necessary.

Then on to the Dining room , then Master Bed and bath.

Just bought my first home and it is a major remodel. We just knocked down our first couple of walls to turn the upstairs space with two small mountain cabin bedrooms into one large master suite.

Doing a tee-tiny bath off the master bedroom. Taking out the tub/shower combo. Going to make into a stand alone shower with tile and glass enclosures. Would love to steal some footage from the bedroom to increase the bath's size. We'll see.....

Doing the kitchen which other than appliances & flooring has not been changed in over 30 years. It was cheaply finished in the first place but when I bought it 15 years ago I thought I could reno more quickly, More expensive than I thought! 15 years later I'm finally ready.

Hoping to refinish the basement after flooding. We have flooded every year since 2011 in each house we've lived in. Would really like to fix all the damage that's been done and restore the life of our homes and give them a purpose and make some memories there again.

We are currently building from scratch. Much prefer that, to renovating. However, both a damned hard work, but worth it in the end.

We are building a house it will be beautiful but we have already run into issues. Looks great from the outside but when I went in I noticed the kitchen windows and mud room windows were all to low. The counters would have covered the bottom of them. That's the first change we ran into.

While getting chemo I spent that time planning out my new kitchen...floors, back splash, cabinets...the over all look...the wall color took me two years to decide...After looking at thousands of kitchen designs and really deciding what I like, it came down to modern farmhouse. I love clean lines and simple design..but I also like some distressed and the comfort of antiques and well loved things. I like greens, creams and browns..and contrast.

I have hated the kitchen I have since we bought the place..I just could not decide what I wanted. Once I had the picture in my head of what I do like, the rest came easy. Italian porcelain that looks like slate, multicolored glass back splash tiles for the pop and the modern look...some new cabinets and open shelves, some tall pantry cabinets that will make up for less wall cabinets, a huge single sand colored granite farmhouse sink, brand new counters in a deep brown with splashes of cream and sand...polished nickle faucets, cabinet and drawer hardware and pendents...bright and shiny with new vertical opening windows.

The kitchen will have the same foot print..its fine and works..but every thing else will be shiny and new. I have every thing bought..its now a matter of demo and make my kitchen what I see in my minds eye.
    I am so excited...
