please some help to make this place cozy

Hi! we just got this place and we need to make it work with the stuff we have for now but i don't know how to make it cozy, i don't like the reclainer but my husband won't let it go and the fire place it's the only place we can put the tv, i would like to keep the art because i made it, i like gray on wall and maybe some wallpaper, but since the furniture is all dark i am very confused, i really would appreciate some help! :)

new curtains or blinds
new lights...maybe down LED lights

I agree =) bigger floor rugs. you can put a thrower in the couch and a lot of pillows so you can make the sofa cozy. Windows can be changed and fireplace can be decorated and organized. althought not sure if it's saft to put it there when you use it.

thank you for get back to me, i wish i could change the floor or windows but we can't do that because we are renting, i need to figure it out what kind of rug, and what colors i can incorporate to make it cozy

a dark colour rug. maybe a black, navy or grey.
i like the one that is there....just needs 2 b bigger

Your rug is about half the size it needs to be and you want color and pattern to brighten and liven up the space. You can remove the vanes from the vertical blinds and use the clips to mount sheers for a softer look. Best level for art is with center points 60" above the floor. Once the art connects to the lower pieces it will warm up more as there will be less blank wall space between furnishings and art.

I like navy as an accent color with the brown leather. Could you do navy drapes on the other two windows? A lighter rug with brown, cream and navy stripes and navy and white patterned pillows would look nice. This room has navy and brown with pale gray walls.

Larger rug with colors from the art on the wall. Curtains can then take a color from the rug and they need more stack back. Treat all windows with the same window treatment for a cohesive look.

I feel like your table needs to be under the lights. Would you try that and post back? MAYBE try the rug under the table?

Center the ottoman/coffee table with the fireplace, the long way and then put the two pieces of furniture on either side of it, facing each other.

Every color has a feeling attached to it. In this culture black means death, authority and is not a bit "cozy". To balance the cool black and warm things up try a large area rug in RED. Add some pattern, that adds friendliness too. Add patterned pillows in soft, textured fabrics like velvet and draperies for warmth.

You need some soft texture and this would be easy for renters in the form of pillows, throws, tablecloth, and a large soft rug if it's in your budget. Your own artwork personalizes the space.
