I would recommend a wool carpet because most stains can easily be removed with soda water, dabbing and patience. They last forever and look luxurious. Buying quality once is far less expensive than purchasing an item 5 times. Shop the sales but buy from a reputable online or local retailer. 9 x 12 area rugs are often found on sale. Check out Capel and Surya websites.

You could also go to the carpet store and look for a remnant piece in the teal or beige , or have them cut a piece to size and bind it for you , I would go with a synthetic low pile for easy cleaning . No point spending a lot of money for now ,later on you can have a better one .

A quality wool 9 x 12 hand knotted rug is going to be 3K plus but it's money well spent. It will last a very long time and washing removes most stains. A cheap rug with low quality wool will not clean up well and a tufted rug can never be washed so steer clear of those. There are an abundance of rugs available now with colors that would look great with your existing things.

I agree Persian Carpet , but when pets are around the house and almost all are aware that they could pee or poop on an expensive carpet and the odours tend to linger on even when properly shampooed and children sit on the rugs and if small even crawl on rugs we need to , think twice before investing on something that may end up in the trash , these sort of investment are best made when there are no pets nor children around . Oops! I just spilled some grape juice mommy . If none of this interferes with your life style the go ahead and spend the big bucks :)
