Plantation Shutters - wood or composite?

We just moved into new home outside of Charlotte, NC and am considering plantation shutters in first floor study/guest room.

I have a quote from Budget Blinds for composite and Acadia shutters for real wood.

Any recommendations/suggestions?

Also - would like opinions on inside vs outside mounting. Some windows have trim all around - some just have ledge with drywall. Thanks!

Composite may be better on a humid climate. Also easier to clean because they are not wood.

Thank you! We are really only humid a couple of months here so hadn't considered that.

Also - thought it was strange that composite quote was not cheaper compared to wood? Almost seemed more expensive for composite?

I like the composite for ease of cleaning but am not a huge fan of plantation shutters in small spaces as I like all the naturel light I can get in my rooms and find they are very heavy looking and block a large amount of light.

To address inside vs outside mount: for uniformity, install outside mount.

I have outside mount and composite. The dont erode in the son. Look beautiful.
