What application are you considering - floors, counters, tub surround, back splash?

I love marble and would would use it as a back splash and or tub surround if I had small children. It develops a really nice patina over time, but it takes years and years to do so. In the mean time, it can look a little moody if not cared for. So a low use area would be a good place for it.

For the floor, think about safety - you don't want anything too slippery. Penny tiles might be an option for you as they have some grip.

If you let us know what application you're considering, I'm sure there will be others with insights.
