My first thought was "please don't demo your tub!". That thought was selfish because we are looking for a new home and our budget can extend up to $300,000 (which should go a long way in Cleveland), yet we find very few homes with tubs - everyone is getting rid of them. It's making me want to build, honestly. Having said that, you have done an amazing job with a bathroom that was much too narrow, especially with the direction in which the tub was oriented. Give yourself a big pat on the back because your work is remarkable. I love the Moroccan tiles and the entire thing, actually.

Much better use of the space although I really liked the red tile, it was absolutely in the wrong space. Very nice!

I love the new bathroom, but the old one looks nice in that photo. I am not sure I would have liked living with that dark bathroom. It looks so much brighter now.

Love it! some people have written in about losing a bath but really how often do you use them anyway? I only used the bath twice a year if lucky and mostly for my kids when they were little. Walk in showers more practical (not to mention the space). Yes a bath can be a selling point especially for young families but they aren't that expensive for buyers to put one in. I feel if you dont use or need it, let it go. I love the transformation I'd rather have bigger, lighter and brighter space. Its gorgeous not to mention the beautiful flooring!

What amazes me is how it looks so much bigger, yet you did not actually move any walls. Great job. Yes, it's nice to have a tub, but not if the room wasn't ever big enough to allow one. Save your tub for a bath that has adequate square footage and consider a tub/shower combo for the ultimate flexibility.

I would keep the red tile and get a white floor with white cabinets.

I know it is really nice to have a tub in a home.

We just remodeled a home with an impossible to use tub in the master bath. The bathroom is long and narrow too. The second guest area bath has a shower and no tub.

The whole house is designed for adults because of size. It would be difficult to use the space for a family of four for example.

Our remodeled bath looks so much larger and we now each have our own sinks.

The shower is barrier free....also nice for aging.

Most people my age don't use the bath tub because it is hard to exit one and that space can make a larger shower space.

If the ??? is in regard to grandchildren....there use to be small plastic tubs you could use. The shower floor and a hand held sprayer will work just fine.

I would like to know the measurements for your bathroom. The original looks so much like the one we are fixing to take down to the studs: red tile, very narrow and long. Ours was only a powder room and closet. I am planning a shower at one end, also.

Wow! You had wonderful vision to be able to see past what it was to what it could be. And the decision to put the shower on the far wall was perfect. It's very bright and pretty and the floor tile adds a contrast you don't see much here in the U.S. Great job!!

How big is your bathroom and what material did you use in the shower and counter top?

The floor tile is absolutely stunning. And the overall bathroom is lovely. It's just the vanity knobs that sadly don't work in the space. A finish like your mirror would work so much better.

Where do you put your towels now? I cannot see any hooks. Would you have moved the sink and vanity closer to the door if you had a chance; so the toilet is not the first thing you see as you enter the door?

Hi, thanks for all the lovely comments. The bathroom is only 118 cm [4 feet wide] and 350 cm long. We are not allowed to move any walls as the house is in the registry of historic builidings so it has to stay as it is. We absolutely needed a walk-in shower downstairs [my father, who visits often has MS] but plan to put a tub in the upstairs bathroom once we get to renovate that floor.

The wall tiles are cheap metro tiles, there are now towel racks between the window and the shower. And yes, the vanity knobs have to go [my husband chose them so I need to wait a couple of months before I do that ;)].

Those floors and frameless shower doors... WOW!!

Our bathroom is also 4 feet wide. Does your vanity allow enough room for a wheelchair? I am needing to find a shallow vanity (17"), so that a wheelchair would be able to get past it to the roll-in shower we plan on putting in the end of our long narrow bathroom. It is amazing that your bathroom is so similar to the one we have slowly been gutting and now hope to begin buying fixtures. All of our red is gone, and we are going to put white subway tile, but with very little grout. I love the floor you put in.
