Can't see enough of the room to answer your specific dilemma, but there are some issues here. The curtains are too short, are not hung high enough, and don't relate in style to the big dark cabinet in any way. The coffee table is floating in the center and is not useful to any seating. It should be 18' from a sofa. The rug under the coffee table is trying to make the coffee table a focal point instead of the large cabinet but only looks inadequate. Please comment here and use the "Add a photo" button to show us the entire room.

Sofa should be taupe or beige to counterbalance the dark wall unit which by the way is beautiful.

I would go with a dark blue Moroccan style couch. I agree with the advice on the curtains, rug and table.

I just love the two tone cabinet. Higher hung drapes with black rods will work. Get them darker. Bigger rug under the awsome table with the cat.

Given the layout of your room I would opt for two love seats (vs a large couch) that are facing each other. Would ground with an area rug and find drapery to compliment (place rod above the arched window and add drapery on the sides). If adding tv, I would just place a small flat screen in the section of the cabinet with the doors (and would move the trophies to another room). [houzz=]

Get rid of the trophies on top of the cabinet they distract from the carving. Lose the valance it looks kitcheny in this space If this is your LR why don't you move the T.V to where the table by the window is. Some nice drapes in a plain linen and 2 loveseats in an ivory or taupe colour at right angles with a large simple area rug with some colour to pull the space together

Would the cabinet fit in or be better suited to the dining room? That would free up space in your living room for the tv and sofas.

But if you keep it in the living room, you might want to consider something like this photo -- despite the heavy wall unit, the room still feels light and bright.

I'm hoping you have a flat screen TV inside the double doors of the cabinet and that the hulking TV in the floor will be gone. That would allow a sofa to float perpendicular to the window, facing the cabinet. Try one that allows you to reverse the chaise portion from right to left as needed for best arranging. Just get it in a color you love that has a strong presence across from the cabinet. Yes, the trophies need their own display shelves elsewhere. No valance please, but simple stationary panels at each end of the window in a neutral fabric. I see what looks to be a piece of art on the wall opposite the cabinet. If so, it is hung way too high. Art without furniture below it should have its center point 5' above the floor.

many problems with this room
end table with no purpose by the window. many different styles competing in the room. rustic huge cabinet, country style rug under modern metal coffee table, flowers on the fabric of the curtains, stuff on top of the cabinet.... i wouldnt know where to start. but i see all them together as part of the entire problem. Not sure what to say to help...?? sorry
