Omit the mirror and make you drapery rod wider. Add an extra drapery panel.

that's a very interesting idea -- i never even thought of extending the drapes. perhaps that can be done. The window behind the drapes will still be off-kilter though, but it would help to create an optical illusion

Can you turn the bed 90 degrees? If not, just move it to the right a foot or so to give you extra walking space on the other side. If you are single, you don't need to be able to get in on both sides. If not, your partner can squeeze or jump :)

I seem to recall this apt. Your wingback needn't pay sentinel - try moving it a few feet toward the bedroom opening,with the carpet anchoring it to the sofa. The other placement for it looks to be left of the bed, reversing the bedstand and lamp (Mirror can go over the bedstand?). Chair can then be pulled into the living area when needed.

If you use blackout drapery panels you could pull the panels back on each side of the window and not notice the window is off center. Blackout drapes come in a variety of colors including cream.

Can you move the bed in front of the window take the table put it where the sofa is . Put the sofa where the table was ... And get rid of the tall lamp and get a table lamp for your end table beside your bed .

Can you add measurements to this drawing. It appears that you should be able to spin the bed clockwise so it is in front of your other window.
If you are the only person getting in and out of the bed then push the side of it it very close to the wall opposite the kitchen (where the head is now) if that won't work then I have to re think. I think maybe the big grey chair is taking up a lot of room too.
I think there is a way to make it work, but why didn't you think to measure first? The large platform is the last thing you need in your studio. Sorry to sound like your mother...or my mother! :)

Cut your losses and Craigslist the bed. I can't see how you will be happy with it. In a studio, you could seriously consider a side tilt Murphy bed.

Can you just use the headboard putting the mattress on a metal frame?

Maybe sideways like a daybed.

i would center the bed to the window to give you a highlighted headboard. depending on if the window goes all the way to the floor or not.

jessica - the window is rectangular -- it doesn't go all the way to the floor.

sunnydrew - i can get rid of the big gray chair very easily, i have a place i could store it for the next year or so until i get a new place. what do you think, should I get rid of the big, silver chair?

what can I say, I'm just a girl and I made a mistake. lesson learned. no regrets though! i've been getting better sleep in this thing than i've gotten in years....

move bed head to center of window

i wasn't sure because of the curtains. but that's my best advice.

I could also move the wood table into the kitchen but if it got water or food on it I would probably have a heart attack

That spot looks like it was made for the wood table. Very nice table! I'd remove everything from the refrigerator, and add some artwork above the table.

Can you just scoot the bed over a foot to the right, to give yourself more room to pass by on the left? I don't think you'll have room for the floor lamp on the right, and I don't think you will need it. I do like the idea of making the curtains go from wall to wall. If you combine the curtain panels from both windows, you should have enough. Then get something similar for the widow at the side of the bed, if you can't get something matching.

Maybe a crazy idea - the art work above your sofa would look better if it were "landscape" rather than "portrait" orientation. Art should be 2/3 to 3/4 the width of the sofa. Can you re-hang it sideways, about 8-10 inches from the top of the couch? It's an abstract so it may look fine.

Turn your art horizontally over the sofa and center it just 5 inches over the back of the couch.
