Most people what to keep those large upholstered pieces more neutral although the color of your dining chairs would be a bold alternative. If you want to stay neutral take cues from your fireplace stone work. It's gorgeous. To add color, use your art for inspiration as well as the dining chairs. Those soothing aquas, greens and blues are great colors right now but add I pop a brighter color in the mix. Pantone's Color of the year for 2015 is Marsala or you could use a touch of yellow or tangerine.

Thank you lolajan- I do want to stay neutral but torn between a light grey or a taupe with grey undertones? I want to use different shades of blues from the canvas- which by the way will be framed - thank you so much for your advice!

I guess I should also say this is not a huge room- 17x15 or so but does have high ceilings.

Have you considered whate washing the stone on the fireplace. It seems out of keeking with all the airy colors you are using.
