Great idea! How- and where - do you end the tile?

I suggested this to my tile folks and they frowned. Did you use edging tile or some other edge on the left & right sides? Thanks!

the tile extends behind the floating mirror by a few inches - just enough to overlap and look nice and seamless.

How far did the mirror float off the wall?

Thanks! We typically use a 2x4 on it's side nailed into the wall framing then use a heavy duty construction adhesive to attach the mirror to the 2x4's. Talk to your mirror supplier for the right adhesive.

It's about 5" for this installation but to me it's more important that it coincides with the tile format. You're looking to keep the visual of a full tile or proportion thereof. Good luck!
