I love all the windows and I would suggest keeping it neutral and adding textural elements for interest.

I'm liking both those ideas! I do like red as an accent but I tend toward neutrals too ... Golds, tans. I made the curtains from painter's dropcloths, believe it or not for $10 a panel :)

Wow, you could have fooled me. What a great idea, executed very well I might add! :) Good for you. I'm impressed. :) Maybe some roman type shades with a bit of color/pattern? You have a great space and I love neutrals too, combined with lots of texture and a bit of sparkle.

did you use a pattern for the curtains? were the sides hemmed?
also, regarding colors, I have a room that is beige and brown and red is a nice accent color with those neutrals.

Beautiful room! I love the window coverings and color of the walls. I think the bed is classic and timeless. It's going to look really cozy with pillows plus if you add a touch of red.

Thanks everyone - I like the pics with the other wrought iron beds and I think they still look modern so I think I will like it! To make the curtains I didn't use a pattern - I followed the instructions from this great blog and bought the same canvas drop cloths she did.

They come hemmed on all sides so super easy and I only had to adjust the bottom with a new hem as they were a bit too long but I used no sew iron on adhesive for that :) Then I just put drapery clip rings on the tops. I priced out linen panels and they were super expensive and I think they look pretty similar, even in person.

I will experiment with some pillows and see what I think with the colors - I think you are right on about needing some texture.

Also I am thinking about installing a couple of sconces on each side inside the window seat to make it more cozy. What do you think?
