What a huge difference removing the wall made, nice work

Beautiful transformation! While I love the new chandelier, I have to admit the "old" one is gorgeous. But, the new one works with the update and it's a fabulous remodel and I'm sure your clients are thrilled with the results. Super job!

We removed a number of walls throughout the house. The old traditional floor plans seemed to separate the various parts of the house too much. By removing the walls, we were able to make the house feel much more open than it is and through the heavy use of trim, we were able to keep the traditional feel with the more contemporary open plan

Mark, the house looks so new! Removing the walls and opening the spaces looks fabulous. It looked so "dated" in the before picture. It looks like you can "breathe" now!

We all need a little "updating" every 30 or 40 years!

really? guess my spacial awareness is way off;;looking at this ONE before and ONE after picture. :/

The pictures were taken from different sides of the room (look closely as to where the windows are in the "before" picture). It makes the change look a bit "off". I think the chandelier needs to be on a glassed in porch or some other type space. I understand the wish for an updated chandelier, but I believe there are better choices available to compliment the beautiful furniture. This one stands out like a sore thumb.

Hmmm...for once I prefer the before. Just turning the lights up and removing the tablecloth would have done it. The first chandelier was much more beautiful in my opinion.

Up to removal of the old chandelier and replacing it with this monstrosity, I like it.

This is deceiving giving that the before and after photos have been taken from opposite sides of the room. The old chandelier looked much better along with the moldings on the walls. Simply painting, removing the tablecloth, and turning up the lights would have made the before picture look better than the after.

Hoping that's the same light fixture with an add-on in the "after" shot--and it can be removed! Otherwise, it's a lovely renovation.

IT looks a boxy look disappeared, where you can feel openness, airiness and great enlargement for a better look.

I can't believe everyone is so stuck on the chandelier. Mark IV removed walls, updated mouldings and kept the style of the house. The chandelier is the owner's choice, not the builder's. Nice job at matching up the mouldings and creating separation of rooms with the ceiling trim.

I am a fan of open living areas. "Dated" areas such as the dining room featured that were confined spaces, were built that way for a reason. In generations past, furnaces were fuel gluttons and expensive to run. Families tended to spend their time together in the kitchen or family/living room, and in winter a smaller room was warmer and cozier. These days, with high efficiency furnaces, high R value insulation and gas fireplaces, even a big open floor plan can feel cozy.

Love the crown-it is gorgeous! Although I think I would have left the chair rail,that is just me. I love the room, love the moldings on the columns too! Beautiful job.

This project successfully achieves a great balance between openness and feeling cozy. Adding all the traditional molding and the pillars helps define the dining room, and creates good room separation. It's timeless, classy and elegant all at once. Love all the natural light.

The before and after pictures were not taken from the same angle so hard to compare the real change.

I believe the photos are at the same angle because walls were removed.

I'm only thinking, it is hard to know. It wasn't added in the description. Maybe the left wall of the dining room was an exterior wall, and new windows of course were installed. The actual size of the dining, I think stayed the same, however, it could have been pushed out too? Hard to tell :)

The house is deceivingly large, but the traditional layout (closed off separate rooms) didn't lend itself showing its best features. The new and old Dining rooms are essentially the same size, but the cut out walls make them feel much bigger and open the house to the wooded views around the house
