Flagstone floor for dining room

We ripped up our carpet in the dining room/ sunroom to discover we have flagstone tiles. We are keeping after cleaning them. Suggestions for color/design of an area rug, aiming for a contemporary modern look? Any advise is appreciated

Well, the existing flagstone tiles do not meet your goal of having a contemporary look. Even if you cover most of it with a contemporary style rug, what shows will still be disconcerting. From what I can see from the photo, the flagstone competes with your stone table top. A contemporary look is achieved by streamlining materials and colors. You have 2 types of stone surfaces (table & floor), silver, gold, crystal and a mirrored vase going on now. Simplify to acheive your goal. Good luck!

How about a dark sisal or jute rug? Cheap, quiet, neutral. If you want it to be more contemporary, look for one with a geometric pattern.
