To paint or not to paint the built in bookcases?

I am updating my house. I am thinking about painting the built in bookcases but am not sure. Also, I don't know what color I would paint them. I just painted these walls SW Resilient Gold over the burgundy they used to be. I am not crazy about the brick but will leave it at this time. Also wonder about trying to update the fireplace in some way.
