Parks and Burpee are my top two choices. My next two choices would be Stokes Seeds and Johnny's Selected Seeds. Both of those include good selections for more Northern locations, which is to my liking, since I live in Maine.

Stokes Seeds, definitely. I've been ordering from them for almost a decade now and have been nothing but absolutely pleased.

I've had great luck with ValueSeeds.com. Maybe I've just been lucky but I have no complaints about this company, plus the seed is cheap and so is the shipping. I'll admit though that they may not have as great a selection as some.

I've had good experiences with valueseeds.com, Pine Tree Seeds,
and Fedco seeds.

I like Valueseeds.com too. An old favorite of mine is RH Shumway.

I buy from multiple companies each year for annual seeds. I too buy from Parks and Burpee. I really do alot of mass annual plantings so this year I used HPS (horticultural products ans services) great prices on bulk seeds of 100 or more. I also like Harris and Jung seeds.

Burpee is buy far the most pricey but the germination percentage is very good. The other companies have always been good to buy from. I have never had a bad experiece with any company. One time Burpee too six weeks to ship my order but I order so early to avoid sold out items so it was not a problem.

Veseys Seeds in Prince Edward Island, Canada...have had the best germination rate of seeds that I have bought from many of them. I won't name other seed company names, but Veseys Seeds for me over the past 6 years have had a germination rate of 98.1% for my annual seeds. Just planting a seed in your brain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent and dependable annual seed sources for me have included Pinetree, J.L. Hudson, Select Seeds and Chiltern. All have websites.

If you are looking for seeds not listed at other sites,and in larger quantities I can recommend Hazzard's Wholesale Seeds. Most seeds are available in 100, 500 or 1000 quantities. Al

nuccida, I believe trailing coleus can only be proprogated my cuttings. I've never seen seed for them.

I really like Wild Seed Farms. They are based in Texas and sell seeds by the pound or fraction. They also offer package seeds.

I have used this company for a really long time. Their zinnias, sunflowers, cosmos, yarrow, Shasta daisy, poppies, rocket larkspur, purple cone flower, corn flowers, and black eyed susan, work really well in my zone (7).I have become aware that these types of flowers are very hardy and don't require much maintenance once established. BUT beware of what you plant. Some flowers like the lance leaf coreopsis are invasive.

I am always out in the garden. People stop and ask about things and compliment how nice it looks. Flowers like the cosmos, poppies and rocket larkspur only last until about June and need to be removed. When I do this, I plant zinnias and sunburst cosmos. I have wonderful color until frost. I also discovered that when I plant zinnias in June, for some reason they don't get powder mildew.

I package seeds in small quantities for those people that only want a few plants. I have a 2 acre english garden, and I clean and sort the seeds by hand. I have lots of varieties and the price for a packet is 75cents. if you buy 5 packets, I do not charge shipping. I am a complete newbie to all this, but I ordered my seeds from Seeds Of Change, an organic catalog. They are based in New Mexico, but have growers in different places. They have mostly vegetables, but also fruit trees, herbs, and flowers. A number of their seeds are heirlooms. The flowers are not necessarily your usual annuals, but rather they are more along the lines of the ones described above by Spiritual Gardener. This is my first time planting seeds, but I am already pretty thrilled, as all my seeds germinated RIGHT AWAY. It may be due to the seed tray with plugs (which I also bought from SOC - they have a lot of great tools, etc.) of composted bark fiber. It also could be that their seeds are really fresh, because one row of plugs had seeds from Lowe's, and it's the only row that has not germinated. My SOC seeds are for Persian Carpet Zinnias, Sky Pink Campion, Ace of Spades Scabiosa, Maroon Coreopsis, Everlasting Starflower, Bachelor Buttons, Sweet Genovese Basil, Italian Parsley, Chives, and Tarragon. Their catalog has LOTS of different Sunflowers, but I have no scope for them. Anyway, so far so good...By the way, their website is www.seedsofchange.com.

Sorry to say that over @ winter sowing there is talk of Johnny's Select Seed web site being hacked last month.

I took Al's advice on Hazzards Seeds this past year, and I am a complete fan. If you ever order more than one packet of seed of the same type of plant, you should check them out. Their shipping is very reasonable ($5.95 flat rate for any size order), their service is great, their seed quality is excellent, and their prices are fantastic.

For example, last year I bought three packets of Salvia farinacea seed from Park Seed, and paid more than $3.00 per packet. I still didn't have enough plants in the spring. This year, I ordered 1000 seeds for $8.03. I'll have plenty for myself, and will do some trades here on the forums with the leftovers. They have a far far bigger selection than any one retail company too.

Yes you can buy coleus seeds from Stokes seeds and many others. It takes about 3 months for them to grow into a decent plant however. They do have many varieties that you don't often see and it's worth while growing some and then saving them for cuttings
