Hoses Eaten

OK, I can't keep purchasing hoses just to have them eaten by one of our lovely dogs. I purchased a cheap one, hooked it up Monday, and within hours it was chewed in 2! So, we obviously need a hose pot of some time. Think I can just purchase a large terra cotta pot to keep the hose in? With a lid of some type? Trying to not spend the $40, $50, $80 on 'decorative' pots I am seeing on the web. I guess we'll have to unhook it after each use (this is where he seems to chew)... is there a non-chewable cover for the faucet? It comes directly out of the cement wall. Any ideas? short of muzzling or ridding ourselves of the dogs...
