I have a 2-story beach cottage. Most of the floors are wood but we put beige carpeting on the stairs 5 years ago. It didn't take long for the carpet to look grungy. Been cleaned professionally more than once. Still looks over used. Any suggestions for carpet on stairs. Husband prefers carpet because he believes wood stairs would be more slippery.
