put the box inside a plastic garbage bag as a liner to protect from moisture. For drainage poke holes in the bottom of course. I can only see them working for one round but hey if it works it works! That is the first thing that popped into my head. Considering I have not finished my first coffee of the day, the fact that ANYTHING popped into my head is quite surprising.

I have "grown" perennials for several months in newspaper. I made sort of twists....sort of tubes, of several layers of paper, folded the bottom up and pit a staple in it and stacked them side by side in one of those dollar store plastic baskets for keeping potatoes and such.
They grew in there for about 2 months before I finally got them into the ground.
And I have seen directions on how to fold news paper to make a little planting pot....and it was done with out a staple. Sort of like making May baskets out of newspspers!!

Hi I use the box flats that you get when you buy a case of cokes. I use them in the green house to start seeds. They hold up real good. There is plastic in the bottom. So it works out real good. Whatever will hold up until you can get the seedlings to their final destination.
