I will be planting Galtonia this year for the first time. I am wondering if it would grow up and through shasta daisies? Once they finish blooming, they are just a mat of foliage on the ground.
I don't see why not - the Leucanthemum foliage should support the Galtonia stems, which can tend to flop a little if they're not supported. I do a lot of planting in "layers" like that, since space is at a premium.
Shasta Daisies here get pretty massive after a year or two and may be too dense for the Galtonias to grow through. The first foot of the Galtonia stems are relatively stiff and in my zone they are left in the ground for many years. If the daisies and the galtonias were both started the same year it should work OK. My Galtonias blooms start about 18 inches from the ground. Al
Thanks guys. It sounds like I just need to try it and see. I may plant one clump with shastas and the others alone. Then I won't risk the entire dozen I ordered. They arrived today. Can't wait to get them planted! :)
