It is not an oriental poppy, but that doesn't mean it's an annual. It may be a somniferum poppy and if so, it'll be back. Prolly by reseeding, but is much more reliable about repeating in the garden than most. Let it go to seed. The pods are interesting anyway.

Papaver somniferum is an annual, but it self-seeds freely.

The general rule with P. somniferum is this: The first year, you will have as many as you want to plant. The second year, you will have several more. By the third year, you'll probably be picking them out of your lawn :P
