I think a shady outdoor spot would be best, and keep them well watered. Don't let them get any sun; they'll probably make it!

She is right and I have the same experience. (Hi Amanda and thanks for all the seeds you recently sent me!) I grow some extra Violets for saving seed that I grow in a cold frame which is covered with a shade lath during most of the Summer. Works like a charm, but you can do it as you described, with extra watering. You can build a simple lath structure to place over sensative seedlings also. Email me for details.
