You could try ageratum, tuberous begonias, wax begonias, foxglove, pansies, violas, torenia, lobelia, browalia, nicotiana, and for foliage - caladiums or coleus. All are shade tolerant.

Mimulus is kind of cool and different. Some of the speckled varieties can be quite bold and perhaps even a bit garish though, so it may take some getting used to, lol. I had mimulus cardinalis one year that I really liked - plain red and quite nice.
