Bulbs in pots?

We bought this house 2006, March. I was thrilled when the daffodils and snowflakes bloomed, as I've longed for them all my life! However, I had to move them all March 2007, as we were pulling up old boxwood and nandinas. I knew it was time for them to bloom, but DH couldn't wait.

Surprisingly, they all survived, given two days after being moved, we had a bit of ice. I tented them, just to be sure, and they rewarded me with such vigor!

Now, my question is, can I pop those babies into pots, and then sink the pots halfway into the ground, when it warms up again? (Pull them for the winter, so they don't crack.) This is a technique I learned in Spain, planting pots halfway in the soil, so they don't dry out and get full of grass. I think it'll work, just wanted an opinion or two.
