I have not had it to reseed, but it will root where the vines touch the ground, so it spreads over time.

It will overwinter in a pot inside. I kept some alive for 5 years, potting them up to a bigger size every spring. I left them out to long last fall and lost them, so I have 3 new small ones. The older ones were close to 3x3 ft. like small shrubs. In Egypt they grow them as hedges.

Cuttings strike very easily, that might be an easier option for saving over winter. They're definitely hardy here, worth throwing a big pile of leaves over to see if that'll do the trick for saving in-ground roots. That and/or better drainage can be extremely effective in zone-pushing/edge-of-hardiness.

take some cuttings... here in fall ....

take them indoors as winter nears ...

when they get lanky ... take more cuttings.. when they take hold.. dump to first ones ...

and continue doing such.. until you can take them back out doors .... increasing stock.. as spring nears ...

i dont know why you could do a couple hundred under a standard 4 foot shop lamp .....

Thanks all. I will try to overwinter both a couple of plants and a couple of cuttings to cover all bases. Ken, if DH would let me share his workshop, that might work. He is, sadly, a tad territorial. I had 16 boxes of stuff from school on one of the garage workbenches-not both, mind you-and he kept asking when I was going to take them to my new school! He didn't need the space, he just didn't want MY stuff sitting there. Haha. It's okay though, he is still cute and he now recognizes my hostas, but not helebores yet-they still get whacked as do a few other things. If I plant some lantana in the ground next spring, I guess I had better point them out over and over! ;)
