Are you sure those are buds and not seed pods?

I didn't realize the seed pods were separate from the flower (okay, so I guess it's obvious i'm a beginner here!)

But what you say does make sense since they are filled with what seems to be seeds. I thought flowers usually bloomed before they turned to seeds.

I too thought my blooms were turning to seed !! So can i just save them and plant next spring ? Now mine are in pots and bushy I get about 6 or 7 blooms scattered not in tiers as I see pics of . Where did I go wrong ?

A photo would clear up the question of what you are looking at.

Jdouch -you are right that there can be no seeds if the plants haven't flowered. So either you missed the flowers or something else is going on.

Did you grow these from seed or buy plants from a garden center? If you purchased them already grown you may have missed most of the blooms if you got them later in the season.
