Fritillaria imperialis? These large bulbs have an indentation on their top surface. It is suggested to plant them on their side to prevent winter moisture accumulating in this indentation and rotting the bulb.

Plant at a depth of 4 times the bulb diameter in very well draining soil.

thank you. I planted one a few years ago and it never made it, but I think the bulb was too dried up. So $5 down the drain on that one. I'll try it one more time. Will the bulbs multiply? Like tulips and lilly bulbs do.
