nasturtium corkscrew stem/seed?

This is purely idle curiosity, but I have noticed that when a flower becomes a seed on my nasturtiums, the stem it's on develops an adorable corkscrew, spiraling down to the nice, big, lumpy seed. It looks like something out of a fairytale illustration. Does anyone know why the plant does this? This is not a question I NEED to have answered, but I sure would like to know! Thanks,

Hello Laura,
well, it's just my educated guess that this happens to get their seeds closer to the ground to give them a better start. You find similar behaviour at Cyclamen (curling up) or at ivy-leaved toad flax, their blossoms head to the light, their seed pods bend down-/ inwards to get closer to the soil/stone.
