large containers soil help

I have two large planters that I will be planting calla lily bulbs in tomorrow. They have potting soil in them from last year though. I was going to dump it and use fresh soil. Can I even reuse this soil with the calla bulbs or should I just follow my original idea and dump the old for new soil?
