The grow boxes seem to be very similar to the EarthBox. EarthBoxes are very easy to take care of and work wonderfully, I only wish they were cheaper so I could afford more.

I assume the tomato hanger you refer to is the container that lets you grow tomatoes upside down. I have used a Topsy Turvy which is another upside down planter. The weights both sound about right. The 25 pounds weight refers to JUST the soil not the growing plant. The 80+ pounds refers to the plant and soil. Tomato plants can be REALLY heavy. I had two Topsy Turvy planters on a double shepherd's hook and it bent the hook at the weld at the base. This was before the plant had even started growing. I am certain just one on a shepherd's hook would fail as well, maybe not initially but once you have a mature plant. You need a VERY sturdy support for those planters.

Thank you. I think I'll pass on the upside planters this year and stick with the boxes. I think the grow boxes are about $15 less than the EarthBoxes but you have to pay shipping. There's a local nursery that carries them at about $55 each. I almost gave up the whole idea until finding the $40 ones online.
