What roofing do you need for patio below a deck

We have a huge deck with a patio under it , we are wanting to screen it in. How do you keep rain from coming through the deck , what roofing would you use for the screened patio or do we need to put a waterproof material on the deck?

    Some decking materials have gutter-like systems that carry the water out to the edge. That is likely why you see the overhang front and side over the porch below. Trex, for instance, has a system.

    Have actually used Trex (no gutters) to replace the flooring in a 101-year-old lake cottage, screened porch that is 40' wide. The original Douglas Fir finally gave up after all those summer storms & MN winters. Good product.
