Kitchen/Family Room addition

I have attached a drawing of our potentional new floor plan. We are hoping to get out of our dated 60s home and update with a new kitchen and family room. We are adding 10' bump out from kitchen and family room. We would like an open floor plan with a small seperation from the kitchen to family room. I would like to keep my sink along the exterior wall with windows looking to the backyard. The kitchen will be long and narrow 12x22 (approx). I would like ideas of utilizing the space to its fullest--just not sure how to design in any way. Your advise would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you have questions.

I don't see any attachment! I recommend paying a designer for a consultation, even just to pick his/her brain and get some quick sketches and notes. It would be a small investment compared to the entire budget, and you will get ideas that you wouldn't not have thought of yourself. You can ask about colours and materials as well as layout.

If this is an addition to the house as well as a kitchen remodeling, I think you'd be best served by hiring (or at the very least consulting) an architect.

Will you retry the attachment please? I recommend a kitchen designer and prior to your meeting, download a copy of the Hafele kitchen idea book. You willl be amazed at the interior hardware available to make your kitchen mmore efficient and to fully utilize the space. I also suggest you measure your necessary appliances and all of the things you want to store. I have done so many kitchens and each one I customize to the client as no two people use their kitchens in the same way; it is in many ways the most personalized room in the home.... Let me know what you think of the Hafele hardware...:)

If you save the drawing as 'jpeg' file it should work as an attachment.
