On the left thats a sago palm, on the right I think they are hibiscus

Love Hibiscus- beautiful and also they retreat beneath ground or die, even in our NC coastal & still w/ right choice can survive inland if the choice of type of Hibiscus is in a protected spot like this porch area. Still I'd consider consulting the landscape designer, adding some type of evergreen shrub, controlling the size , for year-round beauty and perhaps Knockout Roses- easy, grow well , and maintain them & they will bloom til winter, but their presence stands though dormant season. I have several that are ten feet tall if we don't cut them back after last blooming. Is the Palm a small limited sized one? I don't know but love that look! It is the ones that are large you don't want but are often planted too close to a home.
