I took an unwanted waterbed frame and made an instant raised bed for my iris with it. I also have an old-fashioned wood slat playpen that I am going to use as a trellis for a flowering vine. I am going to set it up just like you would a regular playpen and put some soil in the middle of it, then train the vine to grow on the sides.
They both give a whole new meaning to "flower beds" :-)

I wish I still had our old, worn-out grill. I have 8 million pine cones and assorted small sticks sorted out of the bags of leaves from the neighborhood. An old grill would do great for neatly burning pine cones. I would use the ash for the garden and not have to use compost bin space on such hard items. Oh well. Just an idea for others who might be getting ready to chuck an old grill. It could be used to safely burn hard to compost parts.

I have a couple of barbeque grills..the dome lid kind
inside it's empty of the grate and the holes are covered.
this will hold a 2cubic foot bag of potting soil.
the lid keeps rain out.
I just keep gloves and little shovel in there, with the dirt.
I never have gotten around to spray painting it a 'garden yellow' or bright green color...
maybe this summer I will.

Once I saw an old barbeque (rounded charcoal kind) sans lid and grate used as a planter. To me that is up there with planting petunias in the old toilet in the front yard, but whatever floats your boat...
