OK, here's the idea I need help with:

For plant markers...I help with a couple of local festivals and pick up the little flags (orange plastic on an 18" wire), have a bunch; bought a dozen of the little 1" clay pots at hollybolly and what is labeled an "opaque paint marker". I marked the small pots w plant name/date, slid the wire through the hole then bent the wire over so the little pot dangles like a bell. It whould look really nice if I had any calligraphy skills but I like it even with my chicken scratching.

My questions: Will this 'paint marker' fade over the winter (guess I'll know next spring)? Is there something better I could/should be using? How about spraying the potlets with a clear matte finish or something to make it last longer?

I'll appreciate hearing from you creative folks who have done so many things....or also if there is a better forum I should try posting on.
