use them to mark your plants so you know where they are next spring

Write on them with permanent marker when starting annuals and use them so you know what kinds of seeds you have. They don't last forever, but long enough!

Popsicle sticks don't last long enough to be of much use marking plants. I used some to temporarily mark some and they rotted in about 2 months this summer.

You can float a few in a shallow dish of water in a butterfly garden. The butterflies like to drink, but need something to land/perch on while drinking. Well, that'll handle maybe four of your sticks! :) I bet they'd make good kindling, too.

That lamp is amazing, but I don't think I have the patience for that! Also, my sticks all have purple or red on them from the popsicles. I love the butterfly idea, also the kindling one!

Merrygardens, have you run your popsicle sticks through the dishwasher? As I have new sticks I include them in the flatware tray and they come out clean, no popsicle colors on them that I've seen.

And I too liked the lamp but don't have the patience for it! My list of "to do" projects is too long as it is, lol.

I use them to mark where in my garden there are spring bulbs so that when I plant things later in the year I don't dig them up accidentally quite so often. I mark the top end with a letter like D for daffodil, T for tulip, etc. Some do break off over time but in general they have been quite helpful.

That is the gardening angle. For crafts they are very popular, too. I would say offer them to a local kindergarten or elementary school for art projects. My former YMCA had them on their list of items to be donated to their child care center, with things like empty toilet paper rolls and Pringles cans for their craft making.
