I saw the error. Cherrys don't grow on vines. HEHE

While there is no obvious reason why blueberries couldn't be grafted (almost any woody dicot can be) there is little reason to do so. They propagate easily from layers or cuttings. And a major problem is the rootstock would be constantly putting up new shoots of itself.

Thanks Banana,
One reason I was asking about the blueberrys is, I'm getting ready to remove several very old plants from a friends farm that have been there for years. I wasn't sure the best method of replanting and I was thinking of taking several root stems and grafting them with new growth just to create additional plants. Do you think propagating cuttings is a better idea?
Thanks

I'm no expert, especially on wintertime propagation (I root some cuttings in summer) but if the plants are important to you, try at least several ways. One, the established plants will probably transplant OK anyway at this time of year. Cut back or thin the tops a lot to balance for root loss. Two, use the thicker trimmings as attempted cuttings. Cut maybe into foot-long pieces and bury horizontally (i.e., completely) an inch deep in soil you have amended a fair bit with peat moss (spread and dig in). Put these close together and where conveniently watered later; you will be moving any that succeed next fall. Three, maybe dig up as much as you can of the main roots or underground spreading stems you cut off in lifting the main rootball (i.e., main roots or stems outside the hole) and do the same as in number two.

Others may have advice on normal dormant cuttings arranged vertically. I have no knowledge of that. I do know that method two used to be a common nursery practice.
