That Mill Valley dining room has long been my favorite one on the whole site. I love every detail about it.

something warmer without so many hard edges.......just not what I would call a warm and inviting place to entertain..... Regency reads boudoir to me and Menlo reads '80s; the rest hard and uninviting... :( sorry....

It's actually really interesting to see the differences in what photos are popular in different geographical areas. You can really pick up a sense of what is popular locally.

If I had to pick one, I guess Mill Valley. I like different elements of the various rooms. Agree with posters above that they all could use an injection of warmth. Not especially fond of the art in Mill Valley, little depressing and I would feel guilty eating sushi or a seafood meal in front of the "Forbidding Ocean".

Apt observation, Emily. They are all elegant, but I do not understand this penchant for benches. Hard on the back. There are aspects that appeal to me -- love the painting of the sea and those black drum shades, but otherwise, I can't see myself eating or entertaining in any of these rooms. Maybe I"m more Southern than I thought!

Love the Menlo Park Dining Room - the textured walls, high wainscotting, and those brilliant orange lamps in the background sold it for me. I could happily entertain there every night!

I don't like any of them. They look cold and sterile.

I like Mill Valley, fuschia dining chairs...yes, please!

This was a tough choice because there are aspects of all of them that I love. These are dramatic dining rooms, to say the least. But the one that looks the most inviting, cozy and well-designed to me is Dramatic Dining Room in Hollywood Regency Style - Peg Berens Interior Design LLC. I can imagine attending a swanky dinner party there because it's just glowing with rich color and texture.

I don't care for any of them at all. They all lack a sense of warmth and made me feel uncomfortable to even look at them If I had to pic it would be willow at least those chairs might be comfy. That stuff on the table though was over the top

I voted for Olive Tree Lane. Such a free, open space - I bet the piano sounds great.

They are all equally beautiful...it was very hard to choose. Fantastic designs!

I am not a fan of dining rooms with "picnic tables" and backless chairs....the best dining room is the round table with the comfy chairs.... (Peg Berens Interior) (round tables are the best dining experience, especially with a lot of people); also Menlo Park is nice...

I have to agree with mothanature. I'm not fond of backless benches at the dining table. Outside in the garden or a park, it's different. But I'd truly hate to be a guest at a dinner party and have to sit on a backless bench.

However, the only one that looks kind of cold to me is Olive Tree Lane and that's because it's that stark minimalist great room style that always looks just-moved-in to me. The vast expanse of unused space makes it look like isolated vignettes of furniture placed on display in a gym. That said, I actually do like the furniture and flooring.

I'm split between Mill Valley and Olive Tree Lane

I dislike all dining rooms with seating consisting of backless benches. Might look good in a photo...but not comfortable at all!

Love Mill Valley. Clean, good design with compelling painting.

Going with JS Residence because I find that table too attractive to pass on. And if the walls were lined with books - as in one of the other pics for that particular house - it would be practically perfect. I do love that Mill Valley art, though.

All of these rooms are beautiful, though the Menlo park design was the one that made me most want to step through the computer and into a dinner party!

Willow Glen, Mill Valley and Dramatic Dining Room. I would be thrilled with any of those three!

I actually quite love them all, except for Regency. Hard choice but went with Olive Tree lane.

I like them all in different ways. The Mill Valley room is definitely my style, I love the lights which appear to be from Troy's Flatiron collection. The drum lights in the Pacific Heights light are also beautiful and complement the high-backed seats.

Anyone know where the light from the JS Residence is from?

I was shocked that Mill Valley is winning! The room lacks everything! Color, warmth, comfort, design! I had a hard time choosing between Hollywood Regency and Willow Glen. I chose Regency because it was more inviting, but I hate the window treatment.

AGREEING WITH MINTDESIGN. NONE MAKES ME WANT TO SIT DOWN AND ENJOY A MEAL BACKLESS BENCHES ARE NOT COMFY. CERTAIN PATTERNS AND COLORS DON'T LEND THEMSELVES TO STIMULATING APPETITES. I DO WONDER...ARE THE KITCHENS PART OF THESE ROOMS? MAYBE THEY ARE NOT TRUE DINING ROOMS BUT PART OF AN EXTENDED KITCHEN.

@Gina This looks like it might be the lamp in the JS Residence.

I liked Mill Valley because it was calming and pleasant with the sun coming in. I also liked the low ceiling that looks like it belongs in an old whitewashed dairy barn. It's a comforting look to me.

I am surprised no one commented about the Hollywood Regency Style... that one is my favorite... it reminds me of my Grandma's house, but with more pizazz lol

I pick Menlo Park - Fiorella Design it is closest to having a warmth about it. There seems to be something missing in all the rooms, they seem bare-sorry for that. Maybe the lack of carpets , green plants, nice wall pictures. I absolutely love the balloon curtains in Dramatic Dining Room-that rooms get the points for showing a little warmth- it didn't get the vote though because I don't like glass tables. The rooms would also make a lot of noise from chairs moving and shoes tip tapping with out carpets. The Menlo Park has comfortable dining chairs and is closer to having a family feel to it.

To be honest, I may well prefer to curl up on sofa and eat (no warmth!) -and I always eat at the dining table with family haha.

Elements from some of the rooms are appealing but others left me feeling flat. :-(

Totally agree with Stephensbelle above comment. I chose regency simply because at least it had some warmth, and having a round dining table didn't hurt. I am not a fan of the glam window covering either.

They all have such a different look I would like to have dinner in each one of them!
Menlo Park is the one I would most enjoy at the Holidays because it has a classic appeal. Kinda like the little black dress of dining rooms so it grabbed my vote!

Menlo Park got my vote...you can sit through dinner, dessert and after dinner drinks in those chairs. The second fave was Willow Glen. I like many aspects of Pacific Heights but not the benches...not comfortable for the back and bottom.

Mill Valley for me. I could host parties any time there.

Agree with the many previous commenters that some of these don't seem that appealing on a realistic level. Uncomfortable seating arrangements, heavy looking chairs... benches? Sure, it's important for a room to look awesome, but not to the point of overriding usefulness.

That said, Menlo Park looks like a nice comfortable place where real people would want to enjoy a meal.

Since we favor modern, Olive Tree Lane is definitely our favorite. It's clean, usable, and it just looks really good. Comfortable looking modern dining chairs aren't easy to come by.

Mill valley - simple, good design

I chose Dramatic Dining Room out of all those choices. It has a feeling of drama and elegance that gives me the sense that any meal eaten there will be an occasion. I would not be able to sit for more than five minutes at those bench seats and certainly not enjoy a meal. To me dining is friends and family enjoying time together, comfortable enough to linger around the table no matter what the room looks like. Comfy seats, the first priority!

Gee, I think they all look like rooms from mass-market catalogs (PB, for one). They are all missing something that adds character, dimension. That said, I like the space of the DR in Menlo Park - maybe an Ikat on the backs of the end chairs would have added something....and an antique something, somewhere. They all looked "staged" for resale.

For me, I just think Pacific Heights looks like it would be a fun room to eat & entertain in!
