Ear infection home remedy??

I am prone to ear infections, and get them whenever I am sick. 2 days ago I had a sinus headache and thought nothing of it because I've had them before and nothing really happens after it was gone.
Yesterday I woke up and felt like crap. I realized I had gotten sick. (How I'm not totally sure.)
At about 3 A.M. this morning I noticed a pain that was all to familiar. I now have an ear infection in my left ear. I would go to the doctor, but I do not have the money for the co-pay, and the do not allow periodical paying. So I can't go.
I am positive it is an ear infection, but I am not sure how to help it.

I was wondering if anyone had any home remedies to try. I've used a hot compress before and it took about 2-3 days to work. Problem was it also made me throw up when my ear let go of the fluid. (It was not a nice moment...)

I'd like to do it with as little pain as possible, due to the fact that the more pain it holds the more nauseous I get.

With your issues of pain, nausea, and recurrent infections, a medical professional would be helpful. Is MassHealth an option for you?

I have insurance, however there is still a co-pay for the visit. Plus the cost of the antibiotic if they prescribed me any. It usually comes when I have post nasal drip. So change of season, any illness like a cold or flu, etc..

No response to our postings is rude on the part of Katie.

another option: i would instead recommend a therapy which would encourage the ear to drain (rather than put oil into a fluid filled ear). garlic oil and other infection fighting herbs could be taken internally and an onion poultice used to relieve pain and encourage the ear to drain. onion poultices occupy an honored place in folk healing tradition being inexpensive, easy to make and use, effective.

i have a client handout on making and using an onion poultice i'll gladly share, if anyone wants a copy message me privately from here.

Bullwinkle: "This method is 100% safe." [crash] "99% anyways."

alternating hot and cold compresses for the pain and inflammation.

I can just stuff a small clove of garlic in my ear -but when I was younger, my mother used to trim the tops, and sew an 'extraction' cord into the bottom of them, so they wouldn't get stuck in there.

I haven't had a bad one since I finally kicked the antibiotic habit about 15 years ago (my parents and pediatrician treated penicillin like it was a vitamin) but they're high on my list of things I have had to treat, or cope with, in my life.

Kaliaman, your email doesn't show on your list. My ear has been plugged for 9 years. I fell and suffered a minor concussion. I need help badly.
